Illinois'

Barb Sorensen has been playing her
original pop/rock music
(both solo with her acoustic guitar and with a full backup band)
and touring inter-nationally (including Hawaii ) with sponsors
like
Amtrak supporting her along the way, since 1987.
On
January 2, 2003 this talented performer had the incredible
honor of being nominated and selected to represent
the entire state of Illinois , with a special one hour
concert at our nations venerable cultural center in
Washington, D.C. -
The John F. Kennnedy Center for the Arts.
Barb hails from Schaumburg, IL and has recorded three CDs
on her own record label, Emerald City Music Productions, Inc . Her music
can be heard on XM Satellite Radio
as well as other fine radio and internet listening stations.
Barb's
voice has been compared with Joni Mitchell
and Joan Baez, but she credits artists as diverse as
Elton John, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, Prince,Celine Dion,
Bruce Springsteen, and German folk singer Freddy Quin
with influencing her writing.
Barb's
style is serenity with a great beat and gut
level honesty!
Her sound is comfortably inviting yet luring at the same time.
Her
songs speak about her life experiences , drawing
on basic human strengths , hopes and fun to connect
with broad audiences of all ages .
She has even been known to play a few traditional German folk songs
(Barb speaks fluent German as well as English)
to show off her exceptional yodeling talents.
